- Try to get 30-40 minutes of moderate exercise on most days of the week.
- Watch your diet and maintain a healthy weight.
- Avoid tobacco and drink alcohol in moderation.
- When trying to get pregnant you should avoid all alcohol.
- Wear a seat belt and use a helmet.
- Take a prenatal vitamin or at least 400mcg of folic acid per day.

- Use reliable contraception until ready for pregnancy.
- If you have prior pregnancy problems talk to your OB/GYN prior to trying to get pregnant.
- Get your scheduled PAP smears and mammograms.
